Hotels that load the NHP rate become eligible for inclusion in Preservation Month (May each year) marketing efforts, including placement on dedicated landing pages, consumer emails, and social media features through Historic Hotels of America. Properties offering stronger discounts may receive spotlight placement or additional exposure, all with no participation or marketing fees.

DHSCO Connectivity and Optimization

Historic Hotels DHISCO Connectivity and Optimization

Historic Hotels of America establishes connectivity with your hotels via their Central Reservation System’s Internet Distribution Channel (IDS) to Distribution Hospitality Intelligent Systems Co (DHISCO). Content about your hotels on our website will be pulled from their respective DHISCO/HDC listings.

Consult your greater GDS team to see what they have stored in HCD for room types, room names, room descriptions and update the information as much as possible and include language which will be attractive to the cultural and heritage travelers that visit our sites. If for some reason you have difficulties updating your room type names or text, we can override and populate this information manually when you send us the content you would like to have displayed.

  • Please note: Overridden text is static, and the hotelier must inform Historic Hotels’ team member of changes. Please submit any specific content edits to our web content team via webmaster@historichotels.org.

Professional room photos are your hotel’s advocate for selling and showcasing all your hotels’ rooms. We recommend 2 or more room photos of bed type, room amenities and features, and more. Please submit any new room photos to webmaster@historichotels.org, making sure the photo file name is the same as the room type name listed in the Central Reservation System.

  • Images should be at least 900 x 500 (They can go larger as lon as they follow the ratio of 9:5)
  • Supported image types are gif, jpe, jpeg, jpg, or png.

Historic Hotels travelers are experience driven and enjoy your themed packages for romance, cuisine, history, music and any other interesting promotion you may have developed, therefore be certain to allocate and map all of your packages to our IDS channel. We accept all of your publicly available rate plans.

  • Please be sure that your rate plans in the CRS are assigned to the IDS channel.
  • Please be sure to allocate all of your rates and packages to this channel.

Rate descriptions are limited within the DHISCO channel therefore it is important to check if all descriptive text pulls through. When your description is truncated or not pulling through, the best practice is to provide the inclusions in the rate(s) name itself.

  • For example: Instead of Romance Package, we suggest the rate name to be: “Champagne, Dinner, Couples massage pkg” and customers will understand the value included in the rate.

Historic Hotels of America also has two closed-channel rates that we encourage all hotels affiliated with [Corporate Name] to activate: the National Trust for Historic Preservation rate and the Historic Hotels Employee Rate. The National Trust for Historic Preservation rate itself is designed to reach the more than five million supporters of historic hotels who would love to book using the rate code (NHP). Among those supports include: donors, supporters, and volunteers of major not-for-profit heritage and cultural organizations such as: The White House Historical Association, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, NSCDA’s Great American Treasures, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and more.

Meanwhile, the Historic Hotels Employee Rate program is intended to satisfy three things – as a filler for soft periods for hotels, to cross promote our products by familiarizing Historic Hotel employees with other Historic hotels and to act as a perk/motivation for all Historic Hotel partner employees. The Employee Rate Newsletter subsequently highlights select members who currently have an Employee Rate (HHE) active on HistoricHotels.org. Please speak with Laura Allard, Manager, Brand Initiatives, for more information and to be featured in an upcoming newsletter: lallard@historichotels.org.
