Hotels
In 1989, the National Trust for Historic Preservation established Historic Hotels of America to increase the recognition and preservation of the finest historic hotels. Each Historic Hotel inducted into this distinguished program carries historic significance and holds a record of preserving authenticity, sense of place, and architectural integrity. Some of these historic hotels were built as family businesses or grand hotels, and others were once private homes or adapted from their original use. Many have been designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as National Historic Landmarks or are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. But without exception, each Historic Hotel offers a treasured story to discover, explore, experience, and taste.
