Hackney horses are a high-stepping breed of horse that is bred for carriage driving, and Grand Hotel cares for around 12 of these magnificent horses in the Grand Stables. The museum collection features approximately 30 antique carriages and sleighs on display from both Grand Hotel and Mackinac Island Carriage Tours. Both the museum and working stables are open to the public for free, self-guided tours.
